And from your perspective, how was the bubble? How could it be?" The goal off the court is we want a new arena. Peter Feigin: I'm not a good example of life balance, because I kind of blend them in such a big way that my kids, my brothers, my mother, my wife, they're all a part of it. So I'm never a great example of where the balance is and what the cut off is in everything because it's all one big puzzle to me. You talked about the head of human capital, and obviously Im proud to say, and Im only saying this with love, youre a native New Yorker like I am and were people, people. I think its hard to grasp where this is going, but it professionalizes players at this, Peter: point teenagers at a much earlier level than theyve ever been. I love our chances this year, sincerely. Peter Feigin: That this was a year you couldn't even imagine. I suggested a lot of people who would be great presidents, and lo and behold, none of them worked out to do it, so I think they had to default to me to run the company.". Then, I would literally leech myself. Post-acquisition were in an interesting time in life where my dad had been ill for a while and there was no way I was going to move to Milwaukee or take, even have the prospect of taking a job because I wanted to stay in New York and be with my father. Obviously, your assistant help set this up. Michael Red: If you had to go back to your 16-year-old self, what advice would you give your 16-year-old self? And I obviously was kind of like I call myself the Division 3 dream. Right? While Feigin can watch Antetokounmpo and the Bucks any time he wants on NBA 2K or social media -- "The truth is our digital channels are ten times like what our local broadcasts are," he says -- he has the distinct pleasure in Milwaukee of actually getting to catch the action in person. How do we talk beyond just coming to Milwaukee, but how do we do business together? I've got two brothers, my mom, my other family member. John: How about the issue of when people put on those special glasses now, and they can watch a game in 3D or whatIm so out of it a little bit, Peter, technologically speaking, but the young people are talking about the future of watching sports is were going to be able to, is going to be eventually cameras court side, and were going to be able to watch it and feel like were sitting court side and youre at a bucks game. "It's going to be a blow-away experience beyond expectations for anybody that's been to a pro sporting event in the state of Wisconsin, that's for sure," Feigin says. And that, small short less than a year instance kind of just opened my eyes to like, "Oh, my God. In business it takes a real challenging of like where your growth is going to come from I in a big way. But in a short period of time, the prospect and the opportunity of just not running a team, but kind of building a city and the real estate and the expansion and kind of where Milwaukee was as a city and kind of an inflection point was just kind of one of these miracle situations. I don't know, being able to be a business person and kind of get away from your day job and go into a data room of a pro team seemed just the greatest thing I'd ever experienced. The ability to go into an NBA franchise and really pick all the great practices which is going around in the league is a huge advantage. In a perfect world, how do we mesh them together to have one and one equal three? John: Right. I need socks and I know we're not making them. Then she just starts laughing. It was, like you couldn't even, if you had a thousand scenarios, of what the last year could be for the Milwaukee Bucks and what you're kind of thinking about and dealing with, it's just been a pretty incredible ride and ton of emotion. Ive had so much fun and been in sports entertainment and aviation and in different things and its all been about every job Ive had incredibly, Ive said like, oh my God, could you imagine, like Ive died and gone to heaven. Over the years, The Run has become an indispensable part of the players weekend routines and a socioeconomic hodgepodge. But Im getting close to being that guy.. John: It looks amazing. It's like it really is part of your life. Peter Feigin: Yeah, I don't know if it's still risk. Hes with us today. Michael Red: Is there a pivotal moment that you can think of, even as a teenager or as a young kid, that you'd bet on yourself in a major, major way? And I think it was like a checkpoint for us certainly, but for the whole country on like, "Boy, this is one of those inflection points that we've got to make matter in a big way." And then kind of understanding that he knew I was kind of keen on the operation side and understood a team and an organization's P&L for a good way. Michael Red: That's great advice. Theres some great things. Then Chris Middleton next to him, which is almost the same, who are these high quality character folks who happen to be all stars in skill level. "Why would we wait till tomorrow when we can get it done today?" It's like how do I hold my impulsive self to shut the hell up. And the task at hand here is like the more successful we are on the court, the more successful we are on the business, the more opportunity we will have to do other things. Talk a little bit on a fun topic, when I was reading up about you and the team and everything else, I read about this new venture you guys got going over in Wisconsin called the Cluckery and I got hungry looking at the website and looking at the menu. Its been talked about the whole Giannis effect. As commissioner of one of New York Citys longstanding pickup basketball games, Dan Feigin always knew where he would be every Saturday morning: inside the subterranean gymnasium at Trevor Day School in Manhattan, where he has worked for nearly three decades as a teacher, coach and administrator. This was the Milwaukee Bucks at the time had lost the most games in the NBA, had the least revenue, had the least season ticket holders, any metric you could measure. But talk about that dynamic leading through that. Thats just my view, Lasry said. Weve got Peter Feigin. Why wouldn't you embrace Michael Red to really be a reflection of our franchise in such a great way because it's kind of what the great teams and brands do around the world is we've got this unbelievable legacy, which, you're a part of. Peter: Im fairly, my mom was immersed in data analytics before data and analytics was business intelligence. He was unfamiliar with Lasry, then his friend filled him in. Like you said at the top of the show, very few human beings even get to be in this position in any professional sports level. So, if you're against equality, then we probably never will understand or get along or agree with each other." So, he's at the All-Star game and I literally said, "It's too bad we're not on Zoom," because I'm holding these. I have an identical twin brother who's the headmaster of a school in New York City, that all of Wes Edens' and Marc Lasry's kids went to, who were two owners of the Bucks. We've developed about 75% of it and people are living here, working here, and playing. Peter Feigin: Well, I think, like you talked about the opportunity for a great historic organization like this to embrace a former Olympian, it's all-star, like a person who's current in the game and really is an asset. He thinks hes going to sell the team. Low and behold 24 hours, called him back and I said, oh, hes going to sell the team. The most meaningful thing that you can never take for granted is we gave about 850 part-time workers rings to get done. When they talk about Milwaukee, theyre like, Are you kidding me? This is the best place Ive ever been. We go from that answer where we know how important it is because the winters here suck. But it's also, listen like I wish, I have patience for nothing, and I think what I'm learning and trying to get a grip of is like how do we chip away over every issue of social justice. That's like, that's today's kind of like, "What are we focused on?". 1 team in the league, to be the brand representation.' Well, that's you. The Run also often doubles as a day care. Feigin's first task was evident right away. And Dan Feigin still has keys to Trevors gym, which he has been putting to use by himself. My fantasy, I had two fantasies growing up. Peter Feigin: That's right. "He plays with the Bucks 95 percent of the time. And again, it's kind of the relationship. How big a deal it is to renovate downtown, and how big we can become and what a billboard the Milwaukee Bucks should be for Wisconsin around the world. Brought on by Owner Marc Lasry as a sales and marketing guru, Feigin has helped the Bucks go from the basement. How do you balance a world and a sports world, especially, thats become so excited about, what Billy Beane created in terms of data analytics and the importance of numbers with the human capital element. And I think what happened in this year, in so many ways, was a great splash of ice water thinking like, "Boy, we got a long way to go." And kudos to you guys for being cognizant of that. Theres some other attributes, but just take those three is like your best, which, whether youre on basketball or the business side, you die for. Peter: Yeah, it is a combination of both because you really, I had a real rare opportunity to get out of sports and work outside of the sports industry for wealth. Peter: I think when the opportunity came and we thought it was such a good idea, we were aiming an incredible. They have been through a system, if nothing else, highly competitive basketball for the last 12, 14 years, including kind of being shelled up in college, and what the pros are. We were either 29th or 30th in a league of 30 teams, we were in a 25-year-old arena, that part of this was how do we get a new arena built? Are you allowed to talk about that, Peter?
